GIFT Nifty runs two sessions across ~21 hours, Mon–Fri (IST).
Implied open = GIFT level − Nifty futures close. Edit either value.
How to read it: +50 to +150 is a normal gap-up; above +200 signals an aggressive open with likely early volatility; below −50 leans gap-down. A strong first clue, not a guarantee — a Fed surprise between 6:30 and 9:15 AM can flip it.
The nuts and bolts, and the overnight drivers worth watching.
GIFT Nifty is a Nifty 50 futures contract trading on NSE International Exchange in GIFT City, priced in US dollars, for roughly 21 hours a day. The Nifty closes at 3:30 PM, but US data, the Fed, oil and Asia keep moving — and GIFT Nifty keeps repricing through all of it. By morning it has already absorbed the overnight news.
The signal is the gap between the live GIFT level and the last Nifty futures close — comparing futures to futures strips out the cost-of-carry basis and isolates the genuine overnight move:
Trading above the futures close leans toward a positive open; below leans negative; the bigger the gap, the stronger the read.
Not as an Indian resident — GIFT Nifty on NSE IX is open to NRIs, FPIs and institutions through IFSCA-licensed brokers. For everyone else it's a free, live signal you read each morning. Use it as an early-warning radar, not a trading terminal.
